SEPTEMBER RAIN

In an era when monthly rainfall totals are less than average, the remarkable happened in the month of September 2009.  According to weather undground http://www.wunderground.com/, 8.76 inches of rain fell in Dublin during the month.    According to the Southeastern Regional Climate Center, the September  record of 13.39 inches was set during the month of September 2004.  But that was a time when four tropical storms padded the rainfall totals.  The 8.76 inches established a record for the month  where no tropical storms or hurricanes were in the area since totals were kept beginning in 1912.  The average monthly rainfall for the month  is 3.72 inches.
